About Archiv orientalní (ArOr)

Archiv orientalní (ArOr - http://aror.orient.cas.cz) is an indexed, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the cultures and societies of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. ArOr is listed in Scopus, Art and Humanities Citation Index, and ERIH Plus and is accessible via ProQuest and EBSCO. The journal was founded in 1929 and has an uninterrupted history of high academic standards since then, aiming at reaching both the academic public as well as a wider readership interested in the areas covered.

ArOr is published three times per year (in May, September, and December), with one issue dedicated to a special thematic topic. The topics for these special issues can vary widely in scope, discipline, and timeframe, as long as they pertain to the geographical areas covered by the journal. Interdisciplinary or cross-regional themes are strongly encouraged and supported.

A thematic issue typically comprises an introductory article (approximately 5,000 to 10,000 words) and 6-8 articles (7,000 to 10,000 words), and 2-3 book reviews written in the original language of the region. Each thematic issue is overseen by a guest editor whose name appears printed on the front cover.
